Supporting schools and leaders

Schools are navigating increasing complexity; balancing curriculum expectations, accountability, and the day-to-day realities of teaching and learning.

My work is focused on helping leaders think clearly about what matters most, and to translate that clarity into meaningful, sustainable practice.

What I support with

I work with schools and leadership teams across areas including:

  • English curriculum design and progression

  • Writing development and assessment

  • Supporting disadvantaged pupils

  • Translating national frameworks into practical action

  • Leadership thinking and strategic clarity

How I work

My approach is calm, thoughtful and grounded in real contexts.

I work alongside leaders to:

  • step back and see things clearly

  • identify what will make the greatest difference

  • translate that into practical, sustainable change

This might take the form of in-school support, professional development, or leadership conversations, depending on what is most helpful.

A recent project

Context

I worked with a group of school leaders as part of a coaching programme designed to support them in navigating the increasing complexity of their roles.

Many were holding significant responsibility, while also managing change, competing priorities and the day-to-day demands of school leadership.

Focus

The work centred on creating space for leaders to step back from immediate pressures and think more clearly about their context, their role and their priorities.

Rather than adding more strategies or initiatives, the focus was on clarity, decision-making and purposeful leadership.

Approach

Through a series of structured coaching sessions, we created a calm, reflective space for leaders to explore their thinking.

Conversations focused on:

  • making sense of complexity

  • identifying what mattered most

  • navigating challenge with greater clarity and confidence

The emphasis throughout was on grounded, practical thinking that could be applied directly within their roles.

Impact

Leaders reported:

  • greater clarity about their priorities and direction

  • increased confidence in decision-making

  • a stronger sense of control in managing competing demands

More broadly, the work supported leaders to move from feeling stretched and reactive, to more considered and purposeful in their approach.

Leaders described the work as giving them space to think more clearly and lead with greater confidence.

Reflections from Leaders

“The coaching sessions helped me refine my thinking as a leader and gave me greater clarity about how I want to develop. It reminded me of the importance of small, steady steps, and helped me better understand the impact I can have in my role.”

Mariam Gulzar, Middle Leader, Adderley Primary School

“Coaching gave me a clearer understanding of my leadership style; my strengths, as well as the areas I hadn’t fully seen before. It created a confidential space to reflect without judgement, and helped me think more carefully about how I communicate and lead in different situations.”

Nazia Naz, Middle Leader, Adderley Primary School
